JAMES HOPKINS
Chief Operating Officer
After working for a health tablet company and gaining in-depth knowledge of the medical app space, James formed his first venture "Atlas", a company focused on improving app developer revenues and app search functionality. Atlas was accepted into a competitive NYC-based accelerator program as 1/18 companies selected from 400+ applicants, with the program culminating in a demo day at the Microsoft Technology Center. Upon graduating from the program, James branched out to begin working as an independent consultant, offering expertise and resources to early stage companies. He has built up a strong resume of working with founders from multiple industries, from Food & Nutrition to Renewable Energies. Familiar with the fundraising and pitching processes from his experiences in New York and the SF bay area, he has even been asked to pitch in place of a founder (who was ill at the time) at LA Tech Day, the largest startup event in Southern California with over 7000 attendees. His "make it work" mentality and broad skillset from pitch decks to project management continues to be an asset to PennyFly. James took the lead on the intensive diligence process required by Pepperdine’s “Most Fundable Companies” competition, resulting in PennyFly’s two-time semi-finalist placement while becoming the only music label to be recognized by this program.
